Oh the 25th of December.

So like most Americans I celebrate Christmas for almost no reason because I'm not religious. All I know is that I seem to get free stuff every year at this time so it's pretty sweet. So this year I got a few movies(who would of guessed) a couple of video games including Fable 3 for Xbox 360 and luckily I got money. This last semester of college I had a fitness class and used it to my advantage to run as often as possible and lose weight without having a gym membership. Sadly that class has no ended and I'm wanting to work out more than ever. So now that Christmas has come and magically given me money I'm going to a gym that's a half mile from my apartment tomorrow to get my first membership! I'm not horribly out of shape, I was in the army for a few years so I still have some muscle mass and haven't gained too much weight. So the reason I'm posting is to help motivate me to reach my goal, I'll be spending all of January running 3 miles three times a week along with some light lifting and other cardio to drop weight. After I've reach my sucessful weight I'll be changing up my routine completely and adding protein powder into the mix and start lifting heavily to bulk up. I'll be taking "before" pictures tomorrow so I have a decent comparison and when I feel like I've made good progress I'll post a before and after on the blog. For all of you fitness people, feel free to link me some routines you enjoy or even supplements you take.

Also sorry for not posting as much as I should, I've been busy with work! <3 ttyl

Old School

Sorry for not updated much, I've been really swamped with work

Old School
Directed by: Todd Philips
Starring: Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Ferrell

I actually just bought this movie for my girlfriend for Christmas. She is a huge Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell fan, and I also like the movie too. The film is about three men who lives aren't going as well as they planned and with their friend buying a new house they try to relive their college days.

Most of the people who pledge to their fraternity aren't even in college and couldn't be more different from one another. As far as comedies go this is a great movie to watch, but not with children. Depending on if you get the unrated movie, there's boobs in the main menu.

Netflix

For those of you who still drive all the way to a movie store to stroll the aisles in hopes of finding a decent movie, there's a much easier way. At first I wasn't really sure what to think of Netflix, I thought it would be a slow way of getting movies to watch so I tried the trial. That was over a year ago now and I have to say that Netflix is absolutely amazing. It's fast too, once you mail the movie you only have to wait "one business day" to get another from your selection. I call that day the "hump day". If you haven't tried Netflix yet I would highly recommend it. I mean, Netflix and Redbox killed Blockbuster, right? haha

Down in the Valley

Directed by: David Jacobson
Starring: Edward Norton

The film is set in the San Fernando Valley, and Edward Norton plays a man named Harlan. He meets a troubled young girl named Tobe who is played by Even Rachel Wood and they start a relationship that Tobe's father is completely against. As the film progresses it becomes apparent that Harlan is a confused, delusional man.

This is probably one of the "oddest" Edward Norton movies out there, but for some reason I really enjoyed this. Down in the Valley is another one of those movies that is best to only see once as the re-watch value deteriorates over time.

I would give this movie a 6/10, but since I love Edward Norton and he is one of my favorite actors I'll give it a 7. ;)

Kind of off-topic. League of Legends

So I know I normally post about movies but I'm going a little off-topic to discuss League of Legends. I've been playing now for a few months and have become decent, if not rather good at the game. I usually jungle Nunu tank or play Sona, but there's several others I'm accustomed to playing. I have a couple real life friends that play but we can never get a full 5's arranged team going so we usually get stuck with bad players who have no idea what we're doing. I'm looking for other people to play with, hopefully who are better than me so I can get better at the game. If you want you can leave a comment with your summoner name or add me :)

My name in the game is Slovin so feel free to add me anytime :).

Observe and Report

Observe and Report is directed by Jody Hill and starring Seth Rogen. I normally don't like a lot of Seth Rogens work but I loved this movie. There's a bunch of subtle humor that I find amazing.

In this movie Seth Rogen is a mall cop who takes his job very seriously. He is trying to find a man who goes to the mall in a trench coat and flashing women in the parking lot. A detective comes in and tries to find the flasher while Seth Rogen does everything in his power to keep him out and find the flasher first.

Sorry for the short summaries of the movies, I just try not to give too much away so that people can fully enjoy the film while watching it the first time.

As comedies go this is an amazing movie and I would easily give it an 8 out of 10.

25th Hour

25th Hour is a crime drama directed by Spike Lee starring Edward Norton. Norton's character has been caught by the DEA and is now facing a term in prison. With only 24 hours left as a free man he looks over his life and tries to figure out what exactly gave him away. Most sources are pointing to his girlfriend who is played by Rosario Dawson, but he refuses to listen to them.

If you're an Edward Norton fan this is an amazing movie to watch. It's probably my favorite Norton movie out there. The ending is a huge turn from the actual story line which really leaves it on a good note.

I'll give it a good 8/10.

Revolver

Revolver is a film directed by one of my favorite directors of all time; Guy Ritchie. Starring Jason Statham as a man recently released from prison and is encountering an odd chain of events. The only way for his life to be saved is to be a victim in a con. The two men doing the con are Andre Benjamin and Vincent Pastore, who after time, try and make Stathams character try and realize who the real enemy is.

Honestly I'll give this movie an 8.5/10. It's worth watching but there's not nearly as much re-watch value in it.

Today, movies. Tomorrow, who knows.

Noi the Albino is a film by Dagur Kari and is honestly the most impressive film I have ever seen. If you can get past the subtitles you will begin to see that a movie doesn't need a bunch of hollywood explosions or added CGI effects to make it great. In Noi the Albino they rely on raw emotion and a solid plot to get the job done.

Watch it.
